As part of the world's largest humanitarian network, the American Red Cross alleviates the suffering of victims of war, disaster and other international crises, and works with other Red Cross and Red Crescent societies to improve chronic, life-threatening conditions in developing nations. We reconnect families separated by emergencies and educate the American public about international humanitarian law.
The American Red Cross is charged by Congress to facilitate civil education in the area of International Humanitarian Law, which entails knowledge of the principal treaties and governing organizations of the world coupled with citizen sensitivity awareness for cultural, racial, and religious diversity among the nations and cultures of the world. The Inland Northwest Chapter has trained personnel in the presentation of International Humanitarian Law to students in secondary schools and support for secondary school teachers looking to integrate issues of International Humanitarian Law into their curricula.
